Niko Martzy was born in 1976 in Berlin and has spent twenty years inside one question: how do you help a person change profession without breaking them? In 2004 he founded the ecomex Business Academy with the conviction that quality, not scale, is what carries people through professional transitions. Class sizes stay small. Coaches are practitioners. The work is in person, on the phone, on screen — but always one human guiding another.
Over twenty years, ecomex has accompanied more than 4,500 clients and supported over 1,150 business foundations. Hundreds of coaches and lecturers have worked under the academy’s banner across rooms throughout Germany. ecomex is one of Europe’s first academies to integrate AI coaching certification into accredited training programs.
Four waves of technology
Niko has guided professionals through four waves of technological disruption: online marketing, e-commerce, social media, and now artificial intelligence. Each wave brought the same question: not how does the technology work, but what does it do to the people who have to use it. AI is the fourth wave, and in his words, “bigger than the first three combined.”
Why this book is international
Niko also wrote Der KI-Coach, a German-language book published by Whitesides Publishers. The AI Coach is not a translation of the German edition. It’s an independent international work that opens with a five-worlds framework — Silicon Valley, China, India, Africa, Europe — and reaches for the small business owner in Osaka, the accountant in Zurich, the dental practice in Lisbon, the purchasing manager in Stuttgart. The German edition is rooted in the Mittelstand. The AI Coach is rooted in the Mittelstand of the world.
Author and publisher: a transparent dual role
Niko Martzy is also the founder, owner, and managing director of Whitesides Publishers, the publisher of this book. Three of the four titles Whitesides is releasing in 2026 are by him: Der KI-Coach (German), The AI Coach (international, in seven languages), and KI-Hero (German, November 2026). This dual role is disclosed openly. Editorial decisions for The AI Coach were made with an external editor to ensure quality independent of authorship.
